Smart Home Automation

A connected home should feel simple. We bring lighting, security, audio and connectivity together so the home responds naturally—without you thinking about apps, remotes, or what’s connected to what.

Connected home

Connected home

Smart home automation isn't about adding more devices. It's about designing a system where the same action always produces the same result — and where your real daily routines have a shortcut built around them.

In practice, that means:

  • A small set of scenes built around how you actually live: Arrive, Goodnight, Away, Entertain
  • Control that's obvious — keypads where you need them, app access when you want it
  • Systems that cooperate rather than compete: lighting, entry, audio, shading, security — inside and outside the home
Networking

Networking

A smart home is only as reliable as its network. Lights that lag, audio that drops, cameras that buffer — these aren't product problems. They're infrastructure problems, and they're entirely avoidable.

We treat networking as the first system we design, not the last thing to sort out:

  • Built for the actual coverage and capacity your home needs — every floor, every room, every outdoor space
  • Structured so connected devices behave predictably, every time
  • Documented properly so the system can be supported or extended without starting from scratch
Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi

Most homes have Wi-Fi. Far fewer have Wi-Fi that was properly designed — with attention to where people spend time, where dead zones form, and how devices hand off as you move between rooms, floors and outdoor spaces.

We get the basics right:

  • Signal where you actually live: kitchen, bedrooms, home office, patio, pool area, garden
  • Clean handover between access points — no reconnection prompts, no buffering at the far end of the garden
  • Sensible device separation so home systems don't compete with everything else on the network
Video Conferencing

Video Conferencing

Working from home is permanent for a lot of households now. The space needs to support it properly — consistent connectivity, a setup that doesn't require troubleshooting before a call, and a network that holds steady when the rest of the house is in use.

We can help with:

  • Stable connectivity for video calls, no dropped signals mid-presentation
  • A cleaner camera, audio and display setup for a space used daily
  • A home network that doesn't degrade when multiple people are online simultaneously
Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity

A smart home has significantly more network endpoints than a traditional one — cameras, door stations, control processors, smart displays, audio systems, gate motors. Each one matters if the network isn't managed carefully.

We focus on the things that matter:

  • Reducing unnecessary exposure without making the system harder to use
  • Keeping firmware and software current across the right devices
  • Separating systems so a single issue stays contained
Indoor & Outdoor

Indoor & Outdoor

Most home automation stops at the back door. Ours doesn't. Outdoor spaces — entertainment areas, pool surrounds, gardens, driveways, gate entries — are a core part of how South Africans live. They get the same level of integration as the rooms inside.

Outdoor automation typically includes:

  • Lighting scenes for entertainment areas, the pool and garden that shift with time of day or occasion
  • Gate and perimeter security feeding into the same system as interior access
  • Audio that extends naturally from inside — same source, same control
  • Network coverage across the full stand so the patio is as connected as the kitchen

How a Space Atelier project works.

Every system is designed around your home, your habits and your plans — then installed and supported by the same team throughout. We don't quote from a catalogue.

Smart Network Planning FAQ for High-End Homes

It brings your home’s core systems — lighting, security, audio, networking and shading — under one coordinated layer of control. Rather than separate apps for each system, everything works together and responds to how you live. Space Atelier designs these systems from scratch around your specific home and routines.

It varies depending on the size of the home and scope of the system. Space Atelier offers three starting points — Foundation, Signature Living and Estate Experience — to give you a clear place to begin. Building a brief is the fastest way to get an accurate picture.

Both. Retrofits are common and often very achievable. The scope depends on what’s already in place and what you want to add. Share your plans or some photos and we can advise quickly.

Yes. Space Atelier takes on projects across South Africa and into sub-Saharan Africa. Get in touch with your location and project scope and we’ll work out the right approach.
